This make used a ready made bare wood chest of drawers, some paint, and a set of flower transfers. The chest of drawers was painted, and once dry, the rub-on rose transfers were attached. For the transfers on the drawers, the transfers were carefully slit along the edge of the drawer once they had been stuck in place. A coat of matt or gloss varnish will ensure the transfers stay in place. This is a simple easy make, which can be used to style any bare wood furniture – a nice way to match several pieces for a ladies boudoir, or a Swedish style home. Use it on cupboard doors, or to decorate the back of a bookcase, too.

The roses are readily available in hobby shops, or material shops, in a variety of colours. leaves were made with a miniature leaf punch and added to the stem. The pot is made from quilling paper, tightly rolled and then extended to create a plant pot shape – this size took about four strips. Glue rubbed across the outside ensured the shape stayed in place, and gave the pot a slight glaze. The ‘earth’ is glue mixed with dried tea leaves, and the ‘rose bush’ was inserted before the glue dried to ensure it stayed in place. The end result looks lovely in a dollshouse garden or conservatory.

The board is a small wood offcut, sanded at the corners. The pie crust was made in a pie mould, then filled with orange fimo, and the top darkened with chalks. The pumpkins are made from fimo, with the seeds, made of white and translucent fimo, added to the opened pumpkin with a fimo liquid. All the fimo items were baked on a tile before being glued in place on the board. The tiny spoon was added after, and the book was made from a cut out in a dollshouse magazine.

We meet at The Old Bluecoat School, a Grade I listed building on the A4 in Thatcham, usually on the first Saturday in every month, from 2-4pm. There is free parking on site. In 2025 we will be meeting on Saturday 1st March, 5th April, 10th May, 7th June, 12th July, 2nd August, 13th September, 4th October, 1st November and 6th December.

To cover expenses, the club charges £10 a year for membership, and £1 per meeting for all attendees. This usually covers all expenses of the venue and the materials. Members running a meeting are reimbursed for expenses for materials, and do not pay that meeting’s attendee fee. Sue acts as facilitator, booking the venue and arranging the annual programme. Refreshments are provided free of charge, and we usually hold a raffle with a few small dollshouse related prizes.
